February 2011 Hike

This is where our hike begins.

This was the trail on the backside of the mountain.

Snow on the mountains in the distance.
My attempt to take a picture of Brigham and I on the trail.  (I'm not good with a camera!)
We made it!!!!  And there are still smiles on our faces.  :)

This trail was 7.4 miles long and took us 3 1/2 hours to hike.  I would classify it as easy to moderate.  There were parts of the trail which were flat and even and parts of the trail which were rocky.  The views on the backside of the mountain were beautiful.  This is a great desert hike for fall/winter months.  I would definitely hike Pass Mountain again and I would recommend this hike for families.

January 2011 Hike

In preparation for our Havasupai trip Labor Day weekend, we are doing a hike a month.  I'm sorry I don't have a picture for our January hike.  We hiked the Blevins Trail (twice).  The Blevins Trail is at Usery Mountain Regional Park and is 3 miles long.  I would classify this hike as easy.  The first time we hiked this trail it was just James, Brigham and I and it took us 1 1/2 hours to hike.  The second time Brigham and I hiked with the Maricopa North Stake Achievement Day girls and their dads.  Fortunately both times we hiked the weather was perfect.  This is a desert hike so I would not recommend it during the summer months. Great hike for families and there are lots of spots to picnic nearby.
